LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti introduced Sunday evening he was shutting down parking at metropolis seashores and closing sports activities recreation facilities in Los Angeles County amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Twitter, Mayor Garcetti stated the choice got here after officers noticed “too many people packing seashores, trails and parks” over the primary weekend of the “Safer at Dwelling” order issued on Thursday.

“That is severe. Keep at dwelling and save lives,” the Tweet stated partly.

The announcement comes after officers introduced Saturday that every one sports activities and recreation areas at Los Angeles County parks will likely be closed till additional discover amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation stated the choice was made as an additional precaution in response to COVID-19.

The closure impacts playgrounds, health tools areas, courts, skate parks, multi-use fields, pickleball courts, golf programs and garden bowling.
